  3. Utica University’s Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program Names New Executive Director
Executive Director of Young Scholars Jordan Peters.

As Executive Director, Peters oversees the organization’s funding, staffing, public relations, and collaborative partnerships.

Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program (YSLPP), a collaborative program between Utica University and the Utica City School District (UCSD), recently named Jordan Peters as its new Executive Director.

As Executive Director, Peters oversees the organization’s funding, staffing, public relations, and collaborative partnerships. Before assuming this role, he held positions with Paige Marketing Communications Group, Boilermaker Road Race, and Syracuse University. Peters has also served as a Young Scholars volunteer mentor since 2017. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Established in 1993, YSLPP identifies talented and diverse students and works closely with them throughout their middle and high school education through year-round, comprehensive programming encompassing academic, social, and cultural enrichment. YSLPP aims to graduate college-ready or career-ready graduate students with a New York State Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation. Since the program’s inception, YSLPP has served more than 1,520 students and contributed to a 94% graduation rate.

“It is a tremendous honor to be entrusted with the stewardship of this vital organization,” said Peters. “Because of the tremendous leadership and community support from which Young Scholars has benefitted over the past three decades, I know that we are positioned to make an even more profound impact moving forward.”

Peters said, “Not only is Young Scholars a life-changing program for the students themselves, but it prepares them to give back and enrich their communities. When viewed as a whole, I have seen that the importance of Young Scholars is beyond measure.”

“We are very excited to have Jordan join our division and lead the Young Scholars Liberty Partnership Program,” said Dr. Anthony M. Baird, Vice President of the Division for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, & Student Transitions/Chief Diversity Officer. “I am confident that his strong leadership prowess, professionalism, close ties to the Utica area, and fundraising abilities will enable him to succeed in this important capacity while motivating diverse students in our community to reach for excellence.
