As a child life specialist, Melissa touched on her experience of seeing kids benefit from establishing and maintaining routines while hospitalized. She believes routines can help bring comfort and familiarity to children, which can help them thrive in all areas of life.
The Psychology-Child Life Department at Utica University is an interdisciplinary program that enhances students’ understanding of children, adolescents and their families in preparation for careers focused on child growth and development. The program works with a wide range of schools and centers that provide students with real-life experiences through internships and fieldwork.
