UC, MVCC Sign Articulation Agreement
Seamless Transition into Construction Management Program
Utica College and Mohawk Valley Community College have signed a specialized transfer articulation agreement, allowing a seamless transition into UC’s rapidly growing construction management program.
The agreement is intended to encourage the transfer of qualified students from MVCC to UC. MVCC students who complete their associate degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will be guaranteed acceptance into UC’s construction management program.
Since 2008, 100 percent of UC construction management graduates have secured a job before graduation. Perhaps even more exciting, construction management students will soon have access to a new building. The modern, two-story facility will incorporate smart classrooms, instructional spaces and labs, and a multi-use auditorium, all with a modular design that allows for further expansion. Construction has started, and completion is scheduled for year’s end.
“This is the only stand-alone construction management program in the state of New York that’s accredited by the American Council of Construction Education (ACCE),” said David Dubbelde, director of the construction management program.
“This articulation agreement presents a great opportunity for our students,” said MVCC President Randall VanWagoner. “We are very pleased to have a continued relationship with Utica College that truly benefits students at both institutions. By removing barriers to transfer, we believe we can help fulfill the college’s mission of our commitment to student success through partnerships and transfer and career pathways, and believe that Mohawk Valley Community College students will find Utica College to be a natural next step as they pursue their educational and career goals.”
Transfer students will be eligible for scholarships and financial aid, as well as participation in internships, externships, co-ops, field placements and study abroad opportunities open to continuing Utica College students.
The agreement will remain in effect for a period of two years. Each institution agrees to provide timely notice to the other in the event any modification to the curriculum that might affect admission and transfer coursework.
