UC’s Alpha Chi Rho “Chills” to Help Freeze Out Cancer
Fraternity’s Annual “Deep Freeze” to Benefit American Cancer Society
Utica College fraternity Alpha Chi Rho (AXP) will hold its annual “Deep Freeze’ event from March 1 through 8 to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The AXP brothers will endure Upstate New York’s harsh winter conditions to help raise awareness and much-needed research dollars for the organization.
Members of the fraternity will take turns camping in tents on the lawn behind Strebel Student Center for an entire week in conjunction with a series of events while also collecting donations.
Special events include a Drag Day event at 11 a.m. on Monday; S’mores with the Greeks at 7 p.m. on Tuesday; a Candlelight Vigil 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday; Cancer Awareness Dance at 4 p.m. on Thursday; Thaw Out Party at 11 p.m. on Friday; and the Heart Run and Walk 5K at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, all on the Utica College campus. Students, faculty and community members are encouraged to visit the campsite throughout the week to take part in these events.
Individuals can contribute to the cause by making a donation in person at the campsite during the “Deep Freeze.” Nothing will help keep the brothers warm out there more than knowing that their efforts are making a difference and helping someone in need.
